White Plains resident Eric Jackier, 48, has been placed on two terms of five years’ probation - which will run concurrently - after pleading guilty to separate grand larceny charges for stealing money from his unsuspecting victims who believed he was helping their finances.
In White Plains, Jackier admitted to stealing $16,475 from a local woman that was earmarked to set up a charity. Instead, Jackier used the money for his own interests between May 15, 2015 and Aug. 20 that year and he was ultimately arrested by the District Attorney’s Criminal Investigators.
Jackier further admitted to stealing $167,000 in checks from an elderly Rye Brook woman, claiming to be an expert who could help secure veteran’s benefits. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. said that Jackier used a title of “non-attorney representative” and claimed that he could handle Veteran and Social Security cases.
Scarpino said that the Rye Brook woman was seeking to help her elderly husband when she was bilked by Jackier. Those thefts took place for several years, from Aug. 1, 2013, through Oct. 4, 2017. Police investigators in Rye Brook made that arrest.
As part of his sentence, Jackier has also agreed to pay $16,475 to his victim in White Plains and $163,300 to his Rye Brook victims.
